PDO Threads

Threads are dissolvable strings that we place to lift and contour areas of our face. After we place the threads, the results are immediate.

After the threads are placed, over the next 4-8 weeks, the threads start to settle and begin the process of dissolving in order to produce collagen.  As the thread dissolves, our own collagen begins to grow in its place. eventually our own collagen takes the place of the threads and holds the areas we lifted in place in a natural and settled way.

There are two main types of threads:

  • smooth

  • barbed

Barbed threads are made to lift and hold where smooth threads are just placed to tighten, boost skin and soften. We can place smooth threads anywhere!! Especially in areas such as our under eyes to stimulate collagen production in a safer way than filler. Threads last longest when they are layered.

Threads are phenomenal to help lift and lessen or even eliminate the use of filler.  This can be a game changer for younger clients who don't want to start using filler just yet or someone who wants to lift without adding volume. Creating and stimulating your own collagen will always be an extremely important portion of the anti-aging protocol.

Ultimately, threads have been an amazing addition to our faces and they will be for you too!

during your thread appointment we discuss our game plan as to where we want to treat. Once we know the area we are going to treat, we get some pictures taken and get any consents signed.

WE PREP AND CLEAN YOUR SKIN, and begin to draw out where we want to treat. If we ARE doing barbed threads, we will treat you to the laughing gas machine to help ease your nerves.

We then start the numbing process— this is an injectable numbing that is more powerful. Once we are ready to rock, the process goes super fast. The actual procedure looks worse than it feels. The actual amount of time that we are inserting a thread is about 2 seconds per thread. realistically, there is less painful stimulus than any filler procedure and threads are actually safer than filler.

So, Here’s the Deal

Ultimately, threads have been an amazing addition to our faces and they will be for you too! Threads are phenomenal to help lift and lessen or even eliminate the use of filler.  This can be a game changer for younger clients who don't want to start using filler just yet OR for those CLIENTS who already have FULLNESS in their face and want to avoid adding volume as much AS POSSIBLE.

Creating and stimulating your own collagen will always be an extremely important and preferred portion of the anti-aging protocol.

before your appointment

  • help avoid bruising by stopping anti-inflammatory medications such as:
aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil (3-4 days before)

  • take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to prevent bruising

  • Bromelain tablets can help with prevention of bruising too!

  • avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after appointment to help avoid bruising

  • schedule procedure at least 2 weeks before a big event

PDO Post Treatment Recommendations

We know it’s a lot, but it’s worth the read

  • Avoid picking and manipulating the suture at the procedure site. This can cause more bruising, infection, the perforation of the suture through the surface of the skin or the disjunction of the suture to the skin and muscle.

  • For big bruising (hematomas) you may apply cold compresses gently to the area.

  • you will be numb for a couple hours afterwards (similar to dentist)

  • sleep upright and on your back for the first couple weeks with support from lots of pillows

  • Vitamin K cream and Sweet Tox Vita Soothe Serum may be applied after procedure for 5-7 days for bruising and swelling if needed.

  • Watch video on how to cover bruising with makeup

  • Asymmetry or puckering of the skin may occur and typically resolves with time. If it does not resolve after two weeks, please contact us. we suggest warm compresses and massage when these occur.

  • Ice is great and You may take Tylenol for pain, especially at bedtime during the first few days.

  • Avoid direct heat such as laser treatment such as IPL or laser hair removal for at least a month.

  • Avoid baths and use only showers for one week following your procedure.

  • Avoid excessive exercise/sport for one week following your procedure.

  • There will be immediate visible results after treatment with suspensory threads, as well as the area

  • feeling tighter. Over the first few days to weeks, the tight feeling will relax to some degree.

  • Recovery is generally quick, with most patients returning to work the next day.

  • Soreness almost always occurs after treatment. There may be a dull pain that typically goes away after a week or two. There will often be discomfort from chewing or any facial movement. Another kind of pain after PDO threads can be described as “twinges”, “zingers”, or “quick shocks”, this is completely normal, and is caused by the threads stimulating a nerve ending. This kind of pain gradually resolves within several weeks after thread placement.

Facial PDO Procedure After Care Expectations

  • Keep head elevated on several pillows for the first 3 nights after procedure.

  • Avoid any direct pressure to the face and area where the sutures were placed for one week after the procedure (for example, sleeping face down, excessive chewing, talking, yawning, smiling and other facial movements during the week after your procedure).

  • You may wash your hair and face with very gentle upward and outward motions that lift the skin in the same directions as the sutures lift the skin.

  • Banding/pulling of the skin may appear, which is normal and is nothing to be concerned about. Applying warm water compresses and time will resolve any banding issues.

  • extreme swelling may occur. In rare cases, it may last up to 2 weeks.

Snatch

This is Katie’s PDO thread results. We did barbed pdo threads to the cheeks and jawline. Cheeks are lifted to slim the face and give it a snatched look. threads to the jawline are used to pull back and slim the lower portion of the face.

Soften

THIS COMBO OF THREADS AND FILLER IS BEAUTIFUL. OUR GOAL WAS TO SOFTEN HARSH LINES AND HOLLOWS AND LIFT UP THE FACE FOR A CONTOURED LOOK. WE FOCUSED ON LIFTING THE CHEEKS IN ORDER TO GET RID OF THE FOLDS BY HER NOSE AND LIPS. WE THEN ADDED SOME FILLER TO FURTHER SOFTEN THE OUTER CORNERS OF THE EYES AND FOLDS.

Glow

HERE WE DID BARBED THREADS TO HER CHEEKS AND JAWLINE TO HELP CONTOUR AND DEFINE HER ALREADY BEAUTIFUL FEATURES. THREADS KEEP IT NATURAL AND SOFT WHILE LIFTING. WE ALSO SOFTENED SOME FEATURES WITH 3 ADDITIONAL SYRINGES OF FILLER TO HER CHEEKS, CHIN AND LIPPIES.
